there is a judds song called "old pictures" that i used to loved way back when...and as cheesy as the song is, it is true. i LOVE looking through my old pictures (and my family members' old pictures) trying to piece together my family history and roots. i also just love the sentimental and artistic qualities of them...the expressions on their faces, where and how they've chosen to stand or sit, children looking back at me where now i only know the adult version...and i was so grateful that cousin ronda (and jerry) came for a visit to celebrate the twins' birthday and ronda brought a box of old photos. my mom, ronda, leslee and i laughed and studied and oohed and ahhed over everything. i can't even remember who all these folks are, but most of them are related to me...enjoy
a special note on the article below...first, i am jealous that all MY hard work for the twins' party did not make the newspaper...second, even though it was ronda's birthday party, my mother was apparently the guest of honor, as she is listed in paragraph 3 as "patsye ruth huey, a winner" my brother and i have gotten no shortage of mileage out of that :)
these two are of ronda's mother, maurine (shoot, now i can't remember if it's maureen or maurine--ronda please comment and correct me!). she was one of my grandmother ruth's sisters.
and i believe these lovely ladies are my great grandfather's sisters...again, ronda you can correct me :)
and here are my mother and ronda with their dolls...
maurine/maureen
i wish i could remember who these gals were--i think my great grandmother and two of my grandmother's sisters, but don't quote me. i just love the old bridge they are standing on...
mom and ronda again :) you're welcome mom...
a very old one of ronda's mother
and these two are my great grandparents...
this is ronda, my grandmother ruth, and mom...

Kelly,
ReplyDeleteJust looked at this post today (May 29)! How sweet of you to post the old photos on your blog. Photo #1 is of friends of my parents taken during WWII at Eglin Field, FL. Photo #3 - it's Maurine. #5 photo - yes - it's your great grandfather Spence's sisters. Photo #8 on the bridge - Maurine, Mamaw Spence and Lorraine. Had to laugh out loud at the last one - was I unhappy looking or what? Little did I know that one day I would become a sailor's wife...maybe the reason for the sad face?!!
I love the fact that you are interested in family history - I love it. I am the historian on the Rogers side of my family, also.
Love you 'Louise'!!
